Board of Directors

Anna White President of the Board, Anna is an attorney at Hann, Persinger, P.C., in Holland, Michigan. She practices criminal defense, family law, and acts as a mediator for both civil and domestic cases. Due to her professional and personal experience, Anna strongly believes in providing practical support to those in need. "I am so honored to be a part of what Midtown is doing in our community. The affordable, loving counseling we offer provides the foundation for real growth and healing that is needed for so many."

Dr. David Litts - David brings his nationally-recognized expertise in suicide prevention, as well as his extensive background in clinical quality management to the Board. Dr. Litts understands the importance of providing a service within a continuum of care that includes pastoral care, other levels of mental health and medical care, and the range of social services available in the community. He and his wife are graduates of Hope College and have retired in Laketown. They have three grown children.

Brenda Bouman - Two important reasons why I serve on the Board of Midtown Counseling are 1.) Jesus said to "love the least of these." Through counseling at Midtown, the least of these are valued, loved and counseled with Christ's love, and 2.) those who don't have access to counseling because of their financial situation are able to receive it. I'm honored to be a part of such a ministry!

Joyce Fry, Joyce is Director of Children's Ministries at Third Reformed Church in Holland. She holds Master’s Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Child Welfare from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Central College in Pella, Iowa. Joyce has served the Reformed Church with her husband Rev. Kent Fry for over 18 years.
Kerri Sue Smits When Kerri-Sue is not working at the locally owned business in Zeeland that she shares with her husband James, you'll usually find her with their 3 children enjoying God's creation. It may be at the sport's fields cheering on their kids, hunting, or playing on the shores of Lake Michigan. Kerri-Sue was raised in the Holland/Zeeland area and graduated from Hope College with a degree in education. "I deeply value the mission and the heart of Midtown and its gifted therapists"
Bob VanWyngarden acts as the business manager for the Midtown counseling practicein addition to serving on the Board. Bob works as a medical facility development project manager for Spectrum Health and has teamed with his wife Sue in this ministry from its inception. “I wholehearted share the mission of Sue and Midtown in reaching out to the neediest of our neighbors here in the heart of the city we both love.”

Capt. Rick Walters is head of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID); a group that consists of five Detective Sergeants and five Officer Detectives, including WMET (West Michigan Enforcement Team). The CID investigates major criminal complaints, computer-based crime as well as vice and narcotics activity. Chief Matt Messer requested that we add Rick to the Board; an offer Midtown eagerly accepted. Rick joined Midtown as part of the police department’s hope for expanding the community policing program and he has been an invaluable addition to the Midtown team.
